Halle Berry is turning TV producer for a new mini series about Second Punic War general Hannibal Barca.
The X-Men actress is developing the programme with the History channel and will serve as executive producer, according to Variety.
Hannibal will cover the Second Punic War between Carthage and Rome, beginning in 264 BC and exploring the relationship between Hannibal and his archrival Scipio Africanus.
Although they start out fiercely opposed to each other, the pair develop a mutual respect and see each other as brothers.
Halle said: « Hannibal was not only the greatest African general to ever live, he may have been the greatest general, period. His story is an intricate and captivating ride and I’m thrilled to get this project off the ground with our partners at History. »
This is the second TV project Halle has recently signed up to – she has also been cast in Steven Spielberg’s drama Extant for CBS.
